Lead and Galvanized Water Service Replacement Project has begun. Crews have started on south Water Street and will be working on replacements at Water Street from Main Street to the dead end, Elm Street from south Batavia Avenue to south Water Street, and Union Avenue from south Batavia Avenue to south Water Street. From there, crews will be moving to Main Street and working south from there.
Stakeholders will receive an email from the City advising of an impending call from Brandt Excavating requesting an onsite homeowner meeting. These emails are sent out typically one to two weeks prior to the meeting request.
Engineer’s Update:
As of May 4, 2023, both 227 and 237 S. Water St. have been completely replaced and approved by the plumbing inspector. Brandt Excavating has cold patched the asphalt excavation and backfilled the grass excavation. No sidewalk/driveway removal has been needed to date and no interior restoration has been needed. Brandt Excavating will be setting up multiple addresses for pavement repairs, and moving forward all sanitary main and laterals will be pre & post televised.
Contractor’s Update:
Construction has commenced on south Water Street. It is anticipated the week May 8-12 work will begin on Elm, Union, and Jackson streets and possibly Main Street. Construction has moved a little slower than originally anticipated, but that is to be expected when starting a new project. The ground conditions were rockier than we originally thought. The contractor thanks residents for their responsiveness and cooperation, as well as City of Batavia employees who have assisted in getting the project started. The prep work has allowed things to go as smoothly as possible for the first few days of construction.
