Certificate of Appropriateness

Certificate Requirements

A Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) is required when a property owner of any designated landmark, or any building in a historic district wishes to make changes to the exterior of the building that would require a building permit. This includes any alteration, addition, or demolition to all or part of the building. A COA is not required for painting the exterior of the house. For more information regarding a specific project contact the City of Batavia, Community Development Department at 630-454-2700.

To apply for a COA, fill out the application form (PDF) and submit it to the Community Development Department.
